Understanding CMBA’s Values

As CMBA grows and develops, there will be growing pains.

One issue that causes pain is setting limits and boundaries. As a group we want to be welcoming and inclusive, but we also wish to honor the purpose and nature of our vision ~ creating a place for Christian marriage bloggers to be encouraged and helped as they develop their online ministries.

What makes us “Christian”?

For CMBA, we have chosen to adopt a simple creed. This gives our readers a framework for understanding the foundation of our member’s ministries and it helps members unite around the most basic tenets of the Christian faith.

In essentials, unity.
In non-essentials, liberty.
In all things, charity.

That said, there are some who would consider themselves Christian even though they do not agree with the most basic, and essential, concepts of the Christian faith. To these people who wish to join us, we must kindly, but firmly say no. We do not wish to bring into question their integrity or their desire to serve, but we feel the need to honor the God of our faith.

We believe the Bible to be the inspired, authoritative Word of God.

While we recognize the Holy Spirit’s influence in many writings, we hold to the Bible as the authoritative Word of God. We do not recognize “other inspired works,” nor do we recognize “inspired” versions of the Bible.

We believe that there is one God, eternally existing in 3 persons: Father, Son, Holy Spirit.

We believe in Jesus Christ, His virgin birth, His sinless life, His atoning death, His resurrection, His ascension and His personal return in power and glory.

We believe that salvation of sinful man is received through faith in Jesus Christ. Receiving Christ as Savior is the only way to heaven.

This is a basic, foundational understanding of God. It also helps us understand Who Jesus is and why He is able to be our Savior (He has always been God. He is sinless and therefore in a position to take on the penalty for our sins.). We cannot walk with people who teach another gospel by changing the basis of God’s identity or His plan.

We uphold a biblical view for Christian marriage: that it was designed by God and intended to be between one man and one woman.

With so many different religious and cultural views on marriage, we thought it prudent to give a simple statement about the nature of marriage. As members of CMBA, we wish to give honor to marriage between one man and one woman.

We thank you for respecting the guidelines that we have set for the Christian Marriage Bloggers Association.
